In response to climate change challenges in the Kettle Lakes region, our project aims to raise awareness about flood risks and promote appreciation for the lakes' cultural and ecological value through public art. In partnership with the Cortland-Onondaga Federation of Kettle Lakes Associations (COFOKLA) and with support from Cornell students, we will create a digital mural highlighting the lakes' significance and threats. The mural, featuring vignettes of community resilience, will be accompanied by QR codes for deeper information. Through collaborative workshops, each lake community will contribute to the artwork, ensuring representation of local stakeholders. The mural will be created by an Indigenous artist from the Onondaga Nation, and will also honor the region's significance to the Onondaga Nation, integrating historical and cultural elements into its design and messaging.
